This Privacy Policy explains how Nimbus Labs (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use Fluentsmith at fluentsmith.com (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- No email for the free tier. The free rewrite needs no email and no account. Email addresses given to earlier versions of the free tier are used only to keep counting that browser's daily allowance; they do not subscribe anyone to promotional emails, and you can ask us to delete yours.
- Submitted text. The text you paste or type into Fluentsmith so we can generate a rewrite.
- Usage data. Technical and operational information such as IP address, timestamps, rewrite counts, subscription status, and similar data needed to operate rate limits, security, and the Service.
- Payment data. If you subscribe to Fluentsmith Pro, the sale is made by Paddle, our authorized reseller and merchant of record, and Paddle collects your payment and billing details directly. We never see or store your card number. We receive only limited billing metadata from Paddle — for example, the email address used and the fact that a subscription is active — so we can give you Pro access. What Paddle does with your data is covered by Paddle’s own Privacy Notice.
2. How Text Is Processed
When you request a rewrite, the text you submit is sent to the Anthropic API to generate the rewritten output. We use that text only to provide the Service. Fluentsmith does not train models on your text or save drafts and outputs in its application database. Anthropic does not use commercial API inputs and outputs for model training by default. Anthropic may retain data under its own service, safety, and legal policies; Fluentsmith does not promise zero retention by that provider. See Anthropic’s commercial training policy and data retention policy.
3. Cookies
We use first-party cookies strictly for core functionality: one holds an anonymous, random free-tier session id (no email or other personal detail) so the daily free rewrite can be counted, and one records Fluentsmith Pro access. Those cookies last up to 12 months. A separate secure billing-session cookie lasts 15 minutes after email verification. We do not use advertising cookies. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and rewrites without cookies and without creating a persistent cross-site tracking profile. Events can include the tone and output language you selected, but not your draft or email. See Vercel’s analytics privacy documentation. Paddle may use its own cookies and similar technologies in checkout under its privacy notice.
4. Data Retention
- Submitted text is processed to generate the rewrite, not saved as a draft history by Fluentsmith. Anthropic’s separate retention policies apply. Save any result you want to keep before leaving the page.
- Rate-limit and anti-abuse counters — the free rewrite is counted against your browser's anonymous session, and a separate ceiling is counted against the network address your connection presents, as are attempts to restore a purchase. These counters are associated with that anonymous session or network identifier and are configured to expire within 24 hours. Technical failures may delay expiry. They do not contain your draft or rewritten text.
- Email addresses given to earlier versions of the free tier are kept until you ask us to delete them.
- Pro records (your purchase email, plan, and Paddle customer, subscription, and transaction IDs) are kept while you are a customer and for as long as needed for billing, refunds, and legal obligations. Ask us to delete them once you no longer need Pro.
- Recovery links and refund requests. We store a hash of each single-use email token with your email for up to 15 minutes. Resend processes your email address and the transactional message to deliver recovery and billing links, under its own retention policy. We keep refund-request identifiers to prevent duplicate submissions and reconcile payment status.
- Server logs kept by our hosting provider are short-lived and used only for security and troubleshooting.
5. Legal Bases and International Processing
Where a legal basis is required, we process service and purchase information to provide the service you request and perform our contract; operational data for our legitimate interests in security, abuse prevention, and service reliability; and records needed to meet legal obligations. Consent is used where required for optional processing, rather than inferred from using the free tier.
Our providers may process information outside your country. Their applicable data protection agreements and transfer safeguards govern that processing. Submit only information you are authorized to share; remove unnecessary sensitive personal or confidential information.
6. Your Rights
Depending on the law that applies where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, or complain to your local data protection authority. Deletion may be limited by billing, fraud-prevention or legal obligations. To exercise these rights, email support@fluentsmith.com. We may need to verify your request before fulfilling it. For data Paddle holds about your purchase, address your request to Paddle, since they are the seller and hold that record.
7. Third-Party Services
We use third-party providers to operate Fluentsmith. They process information only as needed to provide their services:
- Vercel — website hosting and related infrastructure
- Upstash Redis — rate limiting and operational data storage
- Paddle — the seller of Fluentsmith Pro and merchant of record: it takes your payment, issues your invoice, handles sales tax, and manages renewals and cancellations
- Resend — delivery of requested access and billing emails; see Resend’s privacy policy
- Anthropic API — generation of rewritten text
- Vercel Web Analytics — cookie-free page and usage statistics
Those providers have their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review them.
8. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
